As I wrapped the fleece blanket around my shoulders, I heard a car pull into the driveway. I waited for his knock, and then answered the door with the blanket still wrapped around me, clutching a mug of cinnamon tea to warm my hands.

"You the one with the busted furnace?" he asked, gruffly and without introduction.
